School Lunch & Milk
Children at Norwood Green Juniors have the choice of either a school meal or a packed lunch. Menus are provided twice a year (Autumn/Spring and Spring Summer) by Wilson Jones, the school’s external catering company. The meals are freshly cooked on site in our school kitchen.
Meals provided each day will include a main dish, halal dish, and vegetarian dish option with a dessert. There is also always a Fish option on a Friday. Fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables or salad and fresh bread will be available every day. Children are also provided with water.
Should your child have any dietary requirements for medical or religious reasons please notify the school.
All school lunch choices need to be booked by Tuesday midnight, one week in advance, online through ParentPay (https://www.parentpay.com). If you miss the one-week deadline, you will have to provide your child with a packed lunch.
From September 2023, for the school year up until July 2024, every pupil in the school will be eligible for a free school meal. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced this as a cost-of-living support measure earlier this year.
As a result, Wilson Jones, our school caterer, will now provide free hot school lunches for all our children starting from 6th September 2023.
We know that some children enjoy having a packed lunch from home. Wilson Jones will now also be providing a packed lunch option for those who prefer not to have hot school lunches.
Alongside this will be a selection of salads and fresh fruit as well as the provision of water to drink.
If you do not wish to take up either of these options, you can still provide your child with a packed lunch from home. However, we would encourage all families to take up the offer of hot/cold school meals, which from September, could save families around £440 per child.
The menu for Autumn 2023 to Spring 2024 is available to view below or download as a PDF.

Packed lunches must be brought into school in a suitable lunch box by your child when they come into school at 9am. Packed lunches are stored outside the classrooms, on trollies until lunchtime.
Please ensure your child has a balanced meal that contains something savoury, such as a sandwich/roti and a piece of fresh fruit. Do not include any fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate. Please do not include nuts of any type, including sesame seeds or nut containing products such as peanut butter, Nutella in sandwiches or cereal bars containing nuts. This is due to a high number of children having severe allergies within the school.
Our school milk is supplied by Cool Milk Ltd. Please visit the Cool Milk website to register your child and to manage payments. If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals and you would like them to also have milk, please register with Cool Milk and inform them you are receiving free school meals, ParentPay will contact the school to confirm this.
We do encourage parents to take up this option. Please note once ordered it may take up to 10 days for your child to start receiving milk.
